These girls are chasing some hardware as they head to Austin for the 2026 Gulf Coast Super Regionals, representing not just Southwest Florida, but the entire state of Florida.Lady Hammerheads Rugby player Morgan Munoz said, “What do I expect? I expect to win!”Lady Hammerheads Rugby Head Coach Lisa O’Donnell said, “We have met all of our obligations with the Florida Rugby Union to allow us to play outside of the State of Florida. We are super excited about playing other teams from Texas to the Carolinas.If the ladies can win at the Gulf Coast Super Regionals, they would advance to the USA National Club Rugby Championships, but bigger than that, they would help put women’s rugby on the map in Southwest Florida.Lady Hammerheads Rugby Head Coach Lisa O’Donnell said, “The thing about rugby is it doesn’t take any experience. We have all shapes, all sizes, all heights, all ages, and we literally have that group from 19 to 40 and that’s what’s great about this is because the whole team has stayed together.”Lady Hammerheads Rugby player Morgan Munoz said, “Rugby in Florida is continuing to grow and I think that just more girls keep coming out and just making a name for ourselves and for the game, so I think it’ll just keep building every year.”Grab your boots and saddles, Hammerheads.
