People who live near Preston Hollow Dr are uneasy about returning to their homes after two houses exploded in the neighborhood. Officials believe natural gas caused the explosion. Residents want to make sure officials are absolutely sure their homes are safe before they return.

The first home exploded around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

“I walked out there, and you could see through the front door that the back of the house was gone,” Jimmy Aldape said.

A second bang was heard two hours later, but this time the home on fire was familiar to Aldape.

“My brother actually owned the second house that blew up,” Aldape said. He sold it fifteen years ago. It was all electric. He didn’t have gas.”

Aldape and other residents who live near Preston Hollow say they don’t feel safe because they have so few answers.

“Right now, we feel uneasy because we don’t know the reason for the explosion,” Renee Ruiz said. “If we know what it is then we how to correct it.”

The residents who were displaced likely won’t be allowed to return to their homes until after the NTSB complete their investigation and determines it’s safe for them to return
