Police say a cargo train derailed early Thursday near Bowie Street and West 3rd Street.
AUSTIN, Texas — Police are responding to a train derailment early Thursday morning in Downtown Austin.Â
According to the Austin Police Department (APD), law enforcement arrived on scene shortly after 5:10 a.m. after a cargo train derailed near Bowie Street and West 3rd Street, not far from the Spring Condominiums.Â
Drivers should expect closures and delays in the area and are asked to avoid the intersection if possible.
It’s unclear what led up to this incident and no injuries have been reported at this time. APD said the cargo is non-hazardous.Â
Police are set to provide more information Thursday morning during a media briefing. An exact time for the briefing has not yet been specified.Â
