People in Corpus Christi will have a chance to dispose of sensitive documents for free this week safely.
The Better Business Bureau is teaming up with Goodwill Industries of South Texas to host its annual Shred Day on Friday, April 24.
The drive-up event runs from 9 am to noon at Goodwill’s location at 2961 S Port Ave. Organizers say the goal is simple, to help residents protect themselves from identity theft while also doing something good for the environment.
“This is a safe and easy way for people to get rid of documents they no longer need,” organizers said, noting that all shredded paper will be recycled as part of Earth Month efforts.
The event is open to both individuals and businesses. Participants can bring up to 5 boxes of documents for on-site secure destruction.
Staff will be available to assist drivers as they pull through, making the process quick without requiring them to leave their vehicles.
There is no registration required, but organizers suggest arriving early as these events can draw large crowds.
