A man identified as a former school volunteer has been arrested following a law enforcement operation tied to serious child exploitation allegations.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit alongside officers from the Organized Crime Unit and U.S. Homeland Security, executed a search warrant Wednesday morning at a residence on Outreau Drive.

Authorities said the warrant was related to an investigation into possession of child pornography and included a search of the home, vehicles, electronic devices, and biometric access to those devices.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the homeowner, identified as 42-year-old Benjamin Milfelt.

During the search, investigators recovered two cellphones from a pickup truck on the property. One device, described as a Samsung smartphone, was unlocked as part of the warrant.  Detectives reported finding multiple videos and images depicting minors—both male and female, estimated between the ages of 10 and 14—engaged in explicit sexual activity.

Milfelt was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of child pornography. He was later transported to the Corpus Christi Detention Center.

Following the arrest, officials with the Corpus Christi Independent School District confirmed that Milfelt had previously served as a volunteer at Mireles Elementary School, where he participated in a campus program.

In a message sent to families, school administrators stated that CCPD notified the campus about the situation and emphasized that the individual has not been on school grounds since before that notification.

“Out of respect for the important work of law enforcement, we cannot share any additional information,” the statement read.

District officials also noted that the CCISD Police Department continues to provide support to the campus in accordance with safety protocols.

School leaders encourage anyone with information or concerns to report them to authorities. Community members can contact CCPD through its non-emergency line at 311 or utilize the district’s SpeakUp system.

Authorities have not released additional details about the scope of the investigation or whether more charges could follow. The case remains under active investigation.
