Curnow declares for Lubbock City Council District 4

  • April 24, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Bill Curnow announced his candidacy for Lubbock’s City Council in District 4.

Curnow has worked with numerous nonprofits and served on boards for the city of Lubbock. He said that experience has taught him how to work with the city and address its needs.

Now that his term on the Citizens Traffic Commission is ending, Curnow said he wants to move up in civil service.

“If you are not waking up every morning asking ‘how can the world around me be just a little bit better?’ from the neighbor to at work to at church or wherever you go in life, it’s a missed opportunity, and I try to make sure I don’t miss those opportunities,” Curnow said.

So far, he’ll run against Tim Green, a local homebuilder and former firefighter.

Former City Councilman Gary Boren is trying to get on the ballot, but has been rejected twice. He’s challenging the decision in court.

Current District 4 Councilman Braden Rose announced his resignation last month.

The special election is set for June 27.
