You never know who you’ll see when out on a walk in Texas. In the latest spotting, an iconic Pulp Fiction actor was seen chilling in a town square. His name probably sounds familiar. Samuel L. Jackson ring a bell? Yes, of Oscar-award-winning fame.
Jackson was in the City of Southlake, located 26 miles north of Fort Worth, on Wednesday, April 22. Residing Mayor Shawn McCaskill shared the sighting in a Facebook post, saying he was there for a film project.
Resident Cory Johnson tells MySA he saw Jackson at 2:52 p.m. He was thrilled and “kind of shook” when the actor looked at him, he said.
“I’ve been a fan of him since I was a child watching him act in the Marvel superhero movies,” Johnson said.
At the time he saw the entertainer, Johnson was on his way to lunch at Mi Cocina, a Tex-Mex restaurant located in the town square.
“I thought about asking if I could go hit some golf with him because he was already dressed for the occasion,” Johnson said. “But instead [took] a really cool photo to keep as a memory.”
With green flare pants, a white sweater vest, and a matching top hat, Jackson does appear ready for a day date. In reality, he was on set for the upcoming Taylor Sheridan and Paramount television show, Frisco King. Sheridan is the same producer behind the Western drama, Yellowstone.
In the series, which is a Tulsa King spinoff, Jackson plays the character “Russell Lee Washington Jr.” Washington is a New York mobster hitman who attempts to start a new life and business in Frisco after declining to kill another character, “Dwight Manfredi,” referred to by Paramount+ as Tulsa King‘s Sylvester Stallone.
Mayor McCaskill wrote on social media that a “huge crowd” formed to see all the action, and 200 people were working on set. Show production managers Dustin Daniels and Logan Cooper also gave the city leader a look behind the scenes, he said.
Frisco King began recording in Fort Worth late last month, according to Paramount+. McCaskill tells MySA that Southlake is also “proud to welcome” the show for filming over the upcoming months.
He adds that it appreciates “the opportunity to host Samuel L. Jackson and all of the actors, directors, producers, and crew” to the community. Season one will contain eight episodes. A premiere date has not been announced yet.
