One man has died after a shooting in the 5400 block of S Staples Street in Corpus Christi, according to police.
The Corpus Christi Police Department said officers were called to the area just after 5:30 p.m. for reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound and began giving first aid.
The man was taken to a local hospital by paramedics, where he later died from his injuries.
Police say early information suggests the shooting may have started during a possible robbery, during which a weapon was involved.
Detectives with the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to continue the case.
Several people were detained at the scene, including a suspected shooter. Witnesses are being interviewed at police headquarters.
Investigators say the case is considered isolated, and the investigation is still active.
