Celebrate the life and legacy of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo at the 3rd annual Frida Fest! NBC 5, Telemundo 39, and Norma Group invite you to a colorful event on Mother’s Day weekend, from Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10, at EpicCentral in Grand Prairie. You won’t want to miss this free, three-day weekend event with a stacked lineup!
The event kicks off Friday with opening ceremonies, followed by a concert at the Jambox Music Stage featuring El Chanclazo Bohemian Latin Music. The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. and runs through 10:00 p.m.
Saturday’s events include Latina performers, dance groups, leadership interview panels, and the Frida Leadership Awards, which honors local community leaders. To cap off the night, the “Best Frida” contest will see women, all dressed as Frida, competing for a cash prize of $1,954, 1954 being the year Frida died. Community leaders select the finalists while audience participation determines the winner. Saturday’s events run from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Closing out the festival on Sunday are more live music performances, arts and crafts, food and spirits, an auto show, and more dance groups! The Full Festival and Market hosts the best Mexican street food and includes a VIP lounge with a full bar menu! Sunday’s events run from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Each night closes out with a fascinating spectacle! Enjoy the water and light show every evening, featuring Frida’s iconic art pieces at exactly 9:00 p.m. and again at 10:00 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday night! Frida Fest is free for everyone. To learn more, visit their Facebook page.
