When you think of Texas cowboys, your mind probably goes straight to the Wild West—but along the Gulf Coast, there’s another story that often goes untold.
At The George Ranch in Richmond, the “Coastal Cowboys: A Brand All Their Own” exhibit shines a light on the rich and often overlooked history of cowboys who worked the Texas coastline. Spanning both the pre- and post-Civil War eras, this traveling exhibit explores the unique culture, traditions, and horsemanship that helped shape a different kind of cowboy legacy.
Through artifacts, storytelling, and immersive displays, visitors can discover how these coastal cowboys—and their horses—played a vital role in Texas history.
And while you’re there, it’s the perfect time to explore everything else The George Ranch has to offer, from seasonal events to wide-open landscapes that bring the past to life.
