SAN ANTONIO – A deadly accident involving a pedestrian and an 18-wheeler have closed a portion of a South Side highway.

The accident happened early Friday morning along the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 and Division Avenue.

Authorities say a man was struck and killed while attempting to cross the main lanes of the highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the man was in the median and tried to cross northbound traffic before being hit by the truck.

The driver of the 18-wheeler remained at the scene and called the crash in immediately. At this time, officials say the driver is not considered a suspect and is not facing any charges.

A specialized investigative unit is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether it may have been accidental or intentional.
