The Pirates didn’t have many chances to manufacture runs here tonight, collecting five hits and going 0 for 3 with runners in scoring position. They did have a chance to trim away at their five-run deficit with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, though. Two walks and a hit batter loaded them and Konnor Griffin hit a ball that looked destined for left field. Josh Jung dove to his right, made the stop and delivered a strong throw to retire Griffin and strand the bases loaded.

“Jung made a heckuva play on Konnor there,” Don Kelly said. “That ball sneaks down the line, we’ve got a different ballgame.”
