The San Marcos City Marshal’s Department estimated roughly 2,000 people, primarily high school students from across the region, responded to a social media post promoting the event and gathered at the park, city officials confirmed to MySA.

Officials said officers from multiple agencies were dispatched after multiple fights broke out across the area. Authorities also reported “multiple assaults on public servants” during the response, though no officers were injured.
San Marcos Emergency Services announced on Facebook on Thursday, April 26, that the park was shut down after “large, unruly crowds” refused to disperse. At its peak, officials said the Riverfront area was overwhelmed, leading to safety concerns and a coordinated effort to clear the park. City officials confirmed to MySA that the City Marshal’s Department made the decision to close Rio Vista Park at 3:50 p.m. to restore order and ensure the safety of both officers and attendees. The park reopened at 5 p.m.
Two arrests were made in connection with the incident. Authorities said a 17-year-old female from the San Antonio area was arrested for assault on a peace officer. A 17-year-old male was arrested on charges related to drug possession and resisting arrest.

According to an official Facebook update, the situation escalated after “an apparent senior skip day brought hundreds of teens to Rio Vista Park,” with multiple fights breaking out. Officers reported they were “slapped, punched, and pushed while attempting to break up the fights,” as they worked to control the crowd.

By later in the day, officials confirmed Rio Vista Park had reopened after the crowd was dispersed and the area secured. What began as a planned gathering escalated into a large-scale law enforcement response along one of San Marcos’ most heavily used public recreation areas.

Three videos posted to the party-promoting TikTok account @210promo45party offer a staggered view of the day’s escalation.

The first shows a relatively dispersed crowd, appearing at first glance like a typical park gathering. A second video, posted later, captures a much denser scene, with tightly packed crowds and a teenager signaling what appears to be a “back up” gesture amid growing tension.
A third video shows a significant law enforcement presence, with more than a dozen officers positioned outside Rio Vista Park as individuals scatter, underscoring how quickly the situation escalated.
Separately, video circulating on Facebook via the page Everything San Marcos TX Local includes a screen recording from TikTok account @X_man802 captioned “definitely a day to remember.” The 39-second clip shows a parking lot altercation near the park escalating into a broader disturbance.

It begins with multiple individuals fistfighting as bystanders record. A burst of what appears to be mace disperses the crowd. Around the 11-second mark, a second brief altercation between two females appears before the scene spreads further. The footage then shows escalating chaos as police move into the area and crowds disperse, ending with multiple patrol vehicles arriving on scene.
