The Dallas Cowboys designated defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey for return on Wednesday, opening his 21-day practice window.

Winfrey, 25, has not appeared in a game yet with the Cowboys. He was placed on injured reserve in September after suffering a back injury near the end of the preseason.

Winfrey was originally a fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma by the Cleveland Browns in 2022. He was released in the summer of 2023 after multiple legal incidents. In 2023, he spent time on the practice squad for the New York Jets, but wasn’t re-signed after the season.

Winfrey went on to excel for the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL before the Cowboys signed him this offseason.
