DENTON – UNT softball lost 9-2 in game one of its American Conference series against Wichita State on Friday night at Lovelace Stadium.
 
North Texas (27-22, 14-8) salvaged a pair of solo home runs from freshmen Eva Daniels and Kaycee Slovak while the Shockers (30-15, 16-6) dropped three long balls.
 
Both Daniels and Slovak connected for their first career home runs at Lovelace Stadium as Daniels posted her fourth of the season in the third inning while Slovak staved off a run-rule loss with her third of the season in the sixth.
 
Starting pitcher Anneca Anderson (L, 12-7) was charged with the decision as Kayleigh Smith spun her second-longest outing of the season with three innings pitched and posted two strikeouts.
