Acting U.S. Attorney John G. E. Marck announced on Thursday that Detroit rapper AllStar JR, real name Jeremy Christopher Ford, is now in federal custody for unlawfully possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.Â
During a shooting on April 8 at a restaurant on Kirby Drive in Houston, Ford is alleged to have possessed a firearm. Two gunshot victims were found at the location as officers reacted to reports of a shooting in progress, according to the criminal complaint. According to court records, a third individual was also hit by gunfire.
According to the charges, Ford got into an altercation with several other people inside the restaurant, which resulted in a pistol falling to the ground. The FBI examined surveillance footage that showed a group approaching Ford before the altercation, attempting to steal Ford’s watch and necklace. The claims state that Ford grabbed the firearm and started shooting as people ran. He allegedly kept firing while people fled to an elevator, then went back to the spot where one victim was lying on the ground and shot that person again.Â
Additionally, investigators say they found a firearm that Ford reportedly hid at the scene before running away.Â
The charges also allege that Ford subsequently published a music video that made reference to the shooting and uploaded many videos on social media that made fun of and referenced the people engaged in the incident. NBA Ben 10, a rapper and associate of popular Baton Rouge rapper NBA Youngboy, was one of the shooting victims.Â
Ford taunted NBA Ben 10 and Prince Jr. on a diss track released shortly after the shooting.
“Thought he was mob ties, till I shot his ass a few times,” AllStar JR rapped on “Mob United.”
Three people were shot during the incident, according to the affidavit. As of April 15, one victim had several gunshot wounds and lost feeling in his legs. Another victim suffered serious damage to a leg and had a finger amputated. A third individual, characterized as a restaurant guest who did not participate in the altercation, was shot and had non-life-threatening injuries.
