CONWAY, S.C. – Blagen Pado delivered the biggest swing of the day, blasting a walk-off solo home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift No.9 Coastal Carolina to a 2-1 win over Texas State on Saturday night at Springs Brooks Stadium and secure the Sun Belt Conference series victory.
With the win, the Chanticleers not only improved to 30-12 overall and 17-3 in Sun Belt Conference play, but also extended their streak to 15 consecutive Sunt Belt Conference series wins.
Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Brice Estep continued his strong weekend at the plate, tying the game with an RBI single to left field.
From there, the two teams settled into a pitcher’s duel, with neither side able to break through until the final inning.
After entering the game defensively in the top of the ninth, Pado stepped to the plate with two outs and delivered, launching a solo shot to left field to send the Chanticleers to their second straight walk-off win.
Starting pitcher Ross Norman turned in a strong outing, tossing seven innings while allowing just one run on three hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out four but did not factor in the decision.
Out of the bullpen, Darin Horn was dominant, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and one walk and striking out three to earn the win and improve to 6-1 on the season.
Due to inclement weather expected in the area on Sunday, the series finale has been moved to an 11 a.m. first pitch and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
