2. Texas state park named No. 5 best place to camp with kids in 2026. Camping trips are core memory makers for children, and Dinosaur Valley State Park in North Texas has emerged as one of the top five best places in the U.S. to camp with kids in 2026.

3. Southern Living fires up first barbecue tailgate in Fredericksburg. Some of Texas’ top pitmasters are headed to the Hill Country. Southern Living magazine will host its first Hill Country Tailgate⁠ at Contigo Ranch on September 26.

4. National thrift chain to open first San Antonio store. National secondhand shop Red White & Blue Thrift Store opened its first San Antonio outpost on Thursday, April 23.

5. Cult-favorite chicken finger chain to make New Braunfels debut. Just weeks after revealing its first San Antonio location, Layne’s Chicken Fingers is spreading its wings. The cult-favorite chain is heading to the Hill Country, at 2564 Loop 337 in New Braunfels.
