HAYS COUNTY, Texas — A fugitive wanted on approximately 30 sexual assault warrants was arrested in Canada and extradited to Texas.

Juan Pablo Acosta, 45, was extradited to Texas on Oct. 29, after being arrested by Canadian authorities on unrelated charges. Acosta, who had been residing in Toronto, was wanted on approximately 30 sexual assault warrants issued by the Buda Police Department in November 2021.

The investigation began in April 2021, leading to his initial arrest in July 2021 on two counts of second-degree felony sexual assault and bond forfeiture for a firearm discharge. Acosta bonded out of Hays County Jail but later became a fugitive.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Division, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Hays County District Attorney’s office, worked to secure federal approval for his extradition. Acosta is now held in Hays County Jail facing the Texas charges.
