FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys had to be patient on Day 2 of the NFL Draft. They only had one pick and it was late in the third round. They’ll get to make up for it early Saturday as they own three picks in the fourth round. The plan is to keep all three.

“The meat of this draft is in the fourth and fifth round,” Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said of their beliefs entering the draft. “We think we’re going to have a great opportunity (Saturday). … I think (the fourth-round picks) are very important and that’s why we really didn’t want to package those to move up. And we were really never enticed to do it.

“I think we’re going to get three really good football players based on all the work we’ve done on the board. I think we’re going to get guys we have third- and fourth-round grades on for those picks. And that’s only going to help our football team.”

Here are 12 players still available that make sense for the Cowboys on the final day of the draft.

Day 3Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

If there weren’t injury concerns with the health of his knee, McCoy would have likely been drafted in the first round. Perhaps there could be some interest in taking a gamble on some high upside on Saturday.

Keionte Scott, S, Miami

The Cowboys already drafted the best safety in this class in Caleb Downs, but the value could be intriguing with Scott, who is ranked the 53rd overall player in this class by The Athletic’s Dane Brugler.

Dani Dennis-Sutton, Edge, Penn State

Teams can never have enough pass rush. The value seems worth taking a chance for a player Brugler has ranked 60th overall in this class.

Keith Abney, CB, Arizona State

Cornerback is still a spot that could use some help in Dallas. Abney doesn’t have the ideal size for the position, which has likely contributed to him still being available.

Kyle Louis, LB, Pittsburgh

He’d probably be something closer to a safety in Dallas’ new defense, but he’s an interesting option still out there as a top-75 player on Brugler’s big board.

Malik Muhammad, CB, Texas

An outside corner who experts believe can become an NFL starter.

Kaleb Elarms-Orr, LB, TCU

He had three games of 15-plus tackles last season.

Charles Demmings, CB, Stephen F. Austin

He has good height, weight and length to help on special teams and develop into a regular contributor on the outside.

Aiden Fisher, LB, Indiana

Not the best size, but has been a proven playmaker the last three seasons.

Anthony Lucas, edge, USC

He wasn’t super productive in college, only three sacks in four seasons, but he has NFL size and the ability to improve as a pass rusher.

Rene Konga, DT, Louisville

An experienced six-year college player who could bring good value in the late rounds.

Wade Woodaz, LB, Clemson

The Cowboys need more than one inside linebacker added to the group. Woodaz could immediately help on special teams and develop into a regular contributor on defense.
