The king of country took over Raiderland this past weekend, delivering a historic two-night stadium stand at Jones AT&T Stadium on April 24–25, 2026, drawing a combined attendance of 133,065 fans across both sold-out shows. The “George Strait Weekend” marked his first major Lubbock performances in more than a decade and generated a significant economic boost for the Hub City, with the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance projecting more than $3.7 million in revenue for the hotel and short-term rental industry alone — surpassing the impact of the previous fall’s College GameDay event. Hotels across Lubbock reported 90–95% occupancy for the weekend.
Many Howard County residents attended this event–no matter what–to see Strait and his legendary line-up in Lubbock. The event transformed the Texas Tech University-owned stadium into a celebration of traditional country music, with Strait performing in-the-round each night. Friday’s show featured rising stars Zach Top and Dylan Gossett, while Saturday’s all-Texas lineup included three-time Grammy winner Miranda Lambert and local favorite Hudson Westbrook. Both nights sold out rapidly after tickets went on sale, reflecting overwhelming demand that prompted the addition of the second date.
