EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Another water main break in Far East El Paso left residents frustrated after some homes experienced low water pressure.

The break happened Monday morning on Montana Avenue and Desert Meadows Road.

Several residents who did not want to be on camera said they woke up with very low water pressure.

One resident said, “So this morning we’ve lost water for a few hours.”

El Paso Water officials said crews were able to isolate the line and that there are currently no residents without service.

Officials said the break impacted between 50 and 499 residents and pointed to planned infrastructure upgrades in the area.

A resident said the problem has been recurring.

“So I know so far right now it’s probably been four or five times that we’ve lost water,” the resident said.

The resident also raised concerns about the cost of service, saying, “As much as we’re paying for water and like the allotment network allowed, we should be getting better water.”

The resident said breaks in the area have also caused flooding and traffic issues.

“I know, for like my mom and my wife driving out, I mean the water completely covers the street, so trying to find an alternate route is sometimes a little headache,” the resident said.

The resident said the issue has happened multiple times over the past year.

El Paso Water previously said it began planning two new water lines in the East Montana area after the third break — one along David Street and another through Desert Meadows.

The projects are expected to begin construction by mid to late 2026, with completion anticipated in 2027.

Asked about the status and start date of the work, El Paso Water said:

There is a design for a future project to replace a portion of the water main. At this time, we do not have a timeline on when that project will begin.

The resident said both infrastructure and billing remain concerns.

“I definitely think the infrastructure wasn’t built for it,” the resident said.

He added, “As much as we’re paying, we’ve had a three or four-hundred-dollar water bill before, and hopefully that’s not being allocated from the water break.”

Crews were still working on that section of the water line.
