Plano police are investigating a traffic accident Monday night that resulted in the death of a 72-year-old woman and the closure of multiple northbound sections of Parkwood Boulevard, according to a statement.
Officers and Plano Fire-Rescue officials responded to reports of a major crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian about 7 p.m. in the 3300 block of Parkwood Boulevard, according to the statement.
The northbound lanes from West Parker Road to Windhaven Parkway were closed during the investigation Monday night.
Investigators determined a green Subaru Crosstrek was traveling northbound on Parkwood when the driver hit a pedestrian who was chasing her dog across the roadway. The pedestrian, identified by officials as Beverly Doak Grimes, 72, sustained head trauma and died at the scene.
Police said speed and intoxication aren’t suspected to be contributing factors at this time, and no other individuals were injured during the crash.
Grimes’ dog was picked up by Plano Animal Services, the statement said.
No further information about the crash was immediately available.
