ARLINGTON — A fight between a couple of Yankees fans and a group of Rangers fans that went viral on video Monday night resulted in no arrests, Arlington Police said.
The video, which had over 1 million views by Tuesday evening, showed a male and female fan in Yankees gear in Section 133 of the outfield bleachers apparently taunting some Rangers fans behind them. The fight boiled over when the male Yankees fan slapped a drink out of the hand of a fan wearing Rangers gear. By the time Globe Life Field stadium security and Arlington PD reached the area, the male fan had a bloody face after taking several punches from another fan and also being attacked with what appears to be a souvenir plastic drink holder in the shape of a bat.
The video also shows the female fan later being shoved down the steps and tumbling backward several rows before landing in the seats.
The four fans were ejected from the stadium, the Rangers and Arlington PD said, and issued criminal trespass warnings. No arrests, however, were made.
The fan who received a bloodied face was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The fans’ names were not released, nor was it announced if they’d been barred from the stadium long-term.
“The Rangers prioritize fan safety and staff members responded in accordance with their training,” the Rangers said in a statement to The Dallas Morning News.
