EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — With thousands of fans expected to pack the University of Texas at El Paso’s Sun Bowl Stadium for the BTS World Tour “Arirang” this weekend, ProAction Emergency Services is urging concertgoers in El Paso to take extra precautions due to warm weather.

According to ProAction Emergency Services, a nonprofit organization that has provided emergency medical coverage to the El Paso area, dehydration is among the most common medical issues at large outdoor events.

Speaking to KFOX14/CBS4 on Tuesday, Paloma Leyva, director of EMS and education for ProAction, said dehydration remains a big concern.

“Our biggest concern is dehydration. There are going to be very long lines, so we’re asking people to go ahead and hydrate as much as they can before they get to the event,” Leyva said.

The organization is encouraging attendees to stay hydrated throughout the evening and recommends that concertgoers bring a plastic water bottle, which is permitted inside the venue.

In an effort to streamline entry and maintain safety, UTEP will allow reusable plastic water bottles and one sealed standard plastic water bottle per person. However, metal bottles and tumblers are not permitted inside the venue.

Additionally, ProAction said it will provide on-site medical coverage throughout the stadium, with trained medics stationed at multiple locations, along with extra personnel to help ensure a rapid response.

Leyva added, “We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience. Simple steps like staying hydrated and knowing where to find medical support can make a significant difference.”

While attendees are encouraged to review the event map ahead of time to find medic stations, the organization said concertgoers can also look for staff wearing blue polos marked “MEDIC” on the back if there are any medical concerns.
