“We’re incredibly grateful for our friends, neighbors, and our wonderful team who together have become the regulars and family of Platypus. From first pints to lasting traditions, the memories we’ve created together will continue to shape everything we do,” Platypus’ statement read.
“And there is a next chapter. Behind the scenes, something new is already in the works, building on what we’ve started here. We’re excited to share more soon but right now, over the coming weeks, we’ll be celebrating all the moments that make Platypus special. We’d love for you to be part of it.”
On Instagram, when someone shared how much they’ll miss Platypus’ sours, the brewery responded: “We’ll miss your company, hope to see you before the old doors shut and once the new doors open!”
And on Facebook, when someone said they hope the next chapter includes beer, Platypus’ team said it will, along with “so much more.”

This isn’t the only local brewery making a temporary exit from Houston’s beer scene. This week also marks the end of an era for True Anomaly‘s taproom in East Downtown. At a seven-year run, the space-inspired spot is closing down at the end of its lease. The owners are trying to chart their next steps as a company.
