LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Breezy northerly winds, with gusts up to 35 mph, were observed on Wednesday afternoon, particularly off the Caprock. These winds are expected to decrease by Wednesday evening and shift to a light westerly flow overnight.

A Freeze Warning is in effect for portions of the South Plains, the Rolling Plains, and the far southeastern Texas Panhandle from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday. Residents in these areas should prepare for near or below freezing temperatures.

Temperatures across the entire region are forecast to drop to near or below freezing Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

By Thursday afternoon, winds will shift to the southwest, bringing warmer conditions. Highs are expected to reach the upper 60s to lower 70s, approximately 10 degrees warmer than Wednesday.

Looking ahead, a cold front is forecast to move through the area Friday evening, leading to slightly cooler temperatures on Saturday. Warmer weather is expected to return by next week.
