A San Antonio Park Police officer was arrested after being accused of assaulting a family member, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Rolando Lopez Jr., an eight-year veteran of the San Antonio Park Police Department, was arrested Tuesday by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. He has been charged with assault causing bodily injury of a family member, court records show.
Lopez was booked into the Bexar County jail and later released after posting bond, records show. A magistrate judge ordered him to comply with several conditions, including that he not purchase, possess, own or use firearms. He is also subject to a no-contact order.
SAPD said the incident occurred while Lopez was off-duty.
Following the arrest, Lopez has been placed on administrative duty, the department said in a Wednesday news release.
The San Antonio Park Police Department confirmed it has launched an internal administrative investigation into the incident. Officials directed any questions about the criminal case to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the investigation.
