Birds Barbershop opened its first location in May 2006 in South Austin. The brand is celebrating two decades of hair care services with an all-day party at St. Elmo Brewing.

“Like many small town Texas kids, Austin is where we always wanted to end up,” Co-founder Michael Portman said in a statement to Community Impact. “The scene, the energy, everything about Central Texas drew us in, and now we get to be a part of it alongside 150 other people who work at Birds Barbershop with us. There’s nothing more rewarding than that.”

What they offer

Birds Barbershop offers color services, styling and cuts for adults and kids with any hair length. The business is not exclusively for men, according to its website—it serves all genders, styles and ages.

Clients can make appointments online, call ahead or walk-in for same-day services.

The celebration

The anniversary party will be on May 3 from 3-7 p.m., hosted by drag queen Louisianna Purchase and complete with music from DJ Quiche.

The party will also include giveaways, raffles and anniversary merchandise; the event is free and open to all ages.
