Nurses at a hospital in The Woodlands got a surprise from a hometown country star during what they thought was a routine appreciation event.

Staff at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands said they were attending a standard recognition gathering when Parker McCollum walked in, catching many of them off guard.

The Conroe native greeted nurses, posed for photos and helped hand out new scrubs as part of the celebration.

“Any time you get to take some time out of your day and go in person and shake hands and see the faces of the people that really make the world go around every day, that’s a pretty big honor,” McCollum said.

The event was part of the Healthcare Heroes initiative, a program aimed at recognizing nurses and frontline workers across the country for their service and dedication.

Hospital staff said the surprise visit added a personal touch to the appreciation effort, highlighting the impact healthcare workers continue to make in their communities.
