The Calallen boys golf team had the top Coastal Bend finish after placing ninth with a two-day score of 655 at the Class 4A UIL boys state golf tournament on Tuesday, April 28 at Legends Golf Course.

The London boys placed 12th with a 693 in the Class 3A tournament at Jimmy Clay Golf Course.

The Wildcats posted rounds of 326 and 329 behind Gage Hirschfield, who posted a 150 (74-76), finishing among the top 20 individually.

Hayden Aguilar added a 167, Ian Yzaguirre shot 168, Austin Haigood finished at 172 and Tyler O’Brien carded a 176.

London opened with a 353 and improved to 340 in the final round. Trace Renteria paced the Pirates with a 169 (87-82). James Brewer followed at 173, and Ty Wiseman posted a 175.

In Class 2A, Skidmore-Tynan’s William Sturgeon and Port Aransas’ Leo Martinez each finished with a 162.

Martinez rebounded with a 76 in the final round after opening with an 86, and Sturgeon recorded rounds of 81-81.
