A victim of an alleged homicide on Monday has been identified as 38-year-old Jeremy Campbell, according to a news release by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies began investigating the disappearance of Campbell around 3:45 a.m. Monday, and they eventually found him deceased near the Woodlake Trailhead.

Khayla Dawson, 27, was an Uber passenger of Campbell’s, and she allegedly stabbed him to prevent a sexual assault, according to previous reporting by The Gazette.

Dawson was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and motor vehicle theft. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 6.
