Corpus Christi Flour Bluff (8-0, 6-0) at PSJA North (8-0, 6-0):

The two best 5A-Division I teams in South Texas will meet up in the game of the week in the Rio Grande Valley as Flour Bluff takes on PSJA North.

Unbeaten Flour Bluff has torn through their schedule winning their eight games by an average margin of nearly 50 points per game, including last week’s 66-14 romp over Donna North. QB Lucian Cruz tossed four touchdowns and RB Sam Smith tallied three rushing scores as the Hornets scored 56 first-half points.

PSJA North has an average margin of victory of over 35-points per game. Last week, without the services of star RB Ethan Guerra, the Raiders cruised past Weslaco East 34-7. QB Daren Garcia tossed three touchdown passes, with two going to sophomore WR Isaiah Garza to pace the Raiders attack.

One concern for PSJA North was fumbles and a lack of efficiency in the red zone without Guerra. We’ve got no word if Guerra will be able to play this week; he’s the key in my opinion. If he plays I’d pick North to win, but after not playing last week, I’m assuming until I hear otherwise he’s out this week, so we’ll lean to Flour Bluff on the road to take one more step to a 10-0 mark.
