A Texas singer’s childhood home has been listed on Zillow. How does a cozy cottage in the Middle of Nowhere sound to you?
Kacey Musgraves, the whimsical country music artist known for hits like “Butterflies” and “Dry Spell,” is mentioned in a post promoting a house worth an estimated $151,000. It’s described as a two-bedroom, one bath in Van Zandt County with great acoustics and wood floors.
“In the family for over 100 years, this land and traditional Texas home have a lot of lore, and have long been a creative sanctuary and respite when the world feels uncertain,” the Zillow page reads. “It’s the kind of place where silence doesn’t equal loneliness. It means your thoughts have room to breathe.”
Photos show a 935 square foot, light pink exterior that stands out among tall trees and a massive front lawn. A Dairy Queen is allegedly up the road, and nearby, there’s a pond for fishing, the listing states.
Since the post is playful about its features, including perks like no “bad energy” or “reckless men,” it’s clear this is a unique advertisement for the icon’s new music, which releases this week. Otherwise, the description would strike some as alarming. The property boasts “Bigfoot sightings” and “no phone service.” It does, however, contain horse parking, per the listing.
The promotion fits Musgraves well. Before becoming a Grammy award winner, the 37-year-old was born in Golden, an area mostly surrounded by farmland, and about 90 miles from Dallas. In a recent Texas Monthly article, she recalls visiting her hometown and seeing a sign that read “Golden Texas: Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere” while in the city’s downtown area. It sparked the inspiration for the title of her sixth studio album, which comes out on Monday, May 1.
On Zillow, the “dates to remember” section includes this same date with a time of 8 a.m., when the record drops. Lost Highway Realty is assigned as the property representative, which is the title of one of her 2025 singles.
Another gem included in the listing is a “Sounds of Home” Spotify playlist created by Musgraves. Several local anthems, including “(Hey Baby) Que Paso and “Is Anybody Goin’ to San Antone,” made the list. Tracks by Selena Quintanilla, Midland, and Flaco Jimenez are also displayed.
This isn’t the only way Musgraves is leaning into her Lone Star State roots. She will perform for three nights at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels from Sunday, May 3, to Tuesday, May 5. McAllen trio The Mariachi Brothers will join her there.
