LINCOLN COUNTY, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — A Lincoln County deputy was arrested in El Paso after investigators said he responded to an online ad offering sex for money and arranged a meeting where an undercover officer was waiting, according to court documents.

Lincoln County Sheriff Michael Wood announced on Thursday that Deputy Michael Luciano Gallardo was arrested in El Paso after being involved in a prostitution sting.

In a social media video posted on Thursday, Wood said Gallardo went to El Paso on Wednesday and got “caught up in a prostitution sting” and is no longer working for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a complaint affidavit obtained by KFOX14/CBS4 on Thursday, members of the El Paso Police Department’s Vice Unit, working in conjunction with the Texas Department of Public Safety, conducted an operation in which an undercover officer posted an advertisement soliciting sexual conduct for money on an adult escort website, Skipthegames.

Investigators said Gallardo then contacted the undercover officer through the adult website, where he asked if the undercover officer was available for a “qv,” meaning a quick visit, which investigators said meant 30 minutes for sexual intercourse.

Gallardo and the undercover officer then agreed to $100 for the quick visit, with Gallardo requesting to meet at a pre-determined location.

According to the affidavit, after Gallardo arrived, the undercover officer provided the location of a room where he entered and was taken into custody.

While Gallardo is no longer at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Wood said he will send his arrest info to the Lincoln County Academy Board for review of his certification.

Wood added that before joining the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Gallardo previously served at another agency as a peace officer for 18 years.
