Three nights of lane shutdowns are planned on the west side. TxDOT said drivers will face detours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Drivers on the west side of Corpus Christi should expect overnight closures on State Highway 44 as crews replace large overhead road signs starting Sunday, May 3.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), contractors will shut down different sections of SH 44 each night for three consecutive nights to allow crews to work safely.
Closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting.
On Sunday, eastbound SH 44 will be closed between Agnes Road and SH 358, with traffic redirected to Agnes Road. Entrance ramps along the frontage road after Talbert Lane and Heinsohn Road will also be closed.
On Monday, westbound SH 44 will be closed between SH 358 and the Hopkins Road exit ramp. The entrance ramp after Heinsohn Road will also be closed.
On Tuesday, westbound SH 44 will be closed between the Hopkins Road exit ramp and the exit ramp to Corpus Christi International Airport.
Drivers will be directed to exit at Hopkins Road and are urged to slow down in work zones and watch for crews and equipment.
