ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) – A strong defensive showing from Permian Baseball has the Panthers a win away from the 6A-DI Bi-District Title.
Pebble Hills won the first game 2-1 and put the Panthers in a win-or-go-home situation.
Rain in the Permian Basin postponed many of Friday’s games, but the Panthers and Spartans endured the wet conditions at McCanlies Field for this playoff matchup.
Pebble Hills struck in the first inning. An RBI single from John Martinez put the Spartans in front.
They would hold that lead for awhile, but the Panthers refused to let it grow. Great plays from the Permian defense kept the Pebble Hills offense at bay.
The momentum shift came in the top of the seventh. Two Permian runs gave the Panthers their first lead.
Permian carried it to the final out. The Panthers won game two 2-1.
The victory forces a game three in the 6A-DI Bi-District Title series.
Permian and Pebble Hills will square off one final time Friday at 11 a.m.
