Rochelle, the aptly nicknamed red-tailed hawk, has returned to her yearly nest on Texas 114 at Rochelle Boulevard in Irving.

NBC 5 has been watching the egg we’ve observed in the nest this year, and has finally spotted an eyas, the scientific term for a baby hawk that cannot yet leave the nest.

The longstanding nest is a favorite for lovers of urban nature. NBC 5 has followed the hawks and their offspring through the years.

You can follow the hawks’ journey by checking back periodically on our website or by visiting the TxDOT website here. Search for SH114 @ Rochelle West to see them.
