Actor and Marshall High School graduate Saagar Shaikh (The Marvels) made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday evening where he revealed that along with his work in Hollywood, he’s also recently become a professor at UT San Antonio.

Shaikh was on the late-night show alongside his co-star Asif Ali to promote the second season of their Hulu series, Deli Boys, which premieres on May 28. The crime-comedy follows two Pakistani American brothers who discover their father’s deli business is a front for a crime enterprise after his sudden death.

After the duo talked about their performance last summer on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and how their family is responding to the success of Deli Boys, Kimmel asked Shaikh about his new teaching gig.

Shaikh explained that while promoting the first season of the series at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival (SXSW) last year, he met a photographer from The Paisano, UT San Antonio’s student-run newspaper, who told him he was studying film.

The news that UT San Antonio students could study film was a surprise to Shaikh, who earned a business degree from the university in 2011. In response, he offered to host a panel for the students.

The panel took place in April 2025. At the end of it, Shaikh joked that if the students wanted him to come back the following semester to teach, they should let him know. UT San Antonio took Shaikh up on his offer. Today, he is a professor of practice in the Dramatic Arts Program.

“It’s way harder than I thought it was going to be,” Shaikh told Kimmel. “Some of the kids are amazing. Some of them really piss me off. But those are the ones I really care about.”

Shaikh said when he learned that most of his class hadn’t seen the first season of Deli Boys, he played the first episode for them. Kimmel asked if doing that inspired them to watch the rest of the season on their own.

“I made it an assignment,” Shaikh said. “I’m doing a Deli Boys quiz at the end of the semester.”

Season 2 of Deli Boys premieres on Hulu on May 28, 2026.
