El Paso high school baseball teams begin 2026 Texas UIL playoffs

The bidistrict round of the 2026 Texas UIL high school baseball playoffs is underway for 21 El Paso teams.

Three teams began play on Wednesday, April 29. There will be 18 more teams beginning play on Thursday, April 30.

Winners advance to the area round on May 7-9

Fabens defeats Irvin to advance to area round

The Wildcats won the opener of the best two-of-three series, 16-4, in Class 4A, Division 2.

Fabens scored seven runs in the third inning and five runs in the seventh inning. Leadoff batter Javi Hernandez helped lead the offense with two RBI and two runs scored, Aidan Rodriguez drove in three runs and Dwight Escobar drove in two runs.

Hernandez and Jose Acosta combined for the win on the mound for the Wildcats. After Irvin scored four runs in the first three innings, Hernandez and Acosta held them scoreless the rest of the way.

“We have been waiting for this moment Irvin beat us 4-0 earlier in the season, but we have gotten better. We have to get back to work, the work never stops,” Hernandez said.

Irvin forced a Game 3 with a 7-6 win in Game 2.

However in Game 3, Fabens came back to secure the bidistrict title with a 13-1 win. Jesus Acosta was the winning pitcher for Fabens and struckout seven. Rodriguez drove in three runs, and Jose Cabral drove in two runs to lead the offense.

Class 6A, Division 1In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Eastlake lost to Midland Legacy, 15-5. Eastlake evened the series at 1-1 with a 3-0 win in Game 2. Anthony Ortiz was the winning pitcher and struckout eight batters. Midland Legacy won Game 3, 17-1, and advances to the area round.In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Pebble Hills defeated Odessa Permian 2-1. Mateo Contreras was the winning pitcher, pitching all seven innings, striking out two and walking one. Game 2 went to Odessa Permian, 2-1, and the two teams will place a third and deciding game on Saturday, May 2.Class 6A, Division 2In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Eastwood lost, 3-1, to Midland High. Both teams combined for just four hits. Diego Fierro pitched five strong innings for Eastwood and struck out four. Caleb Milne and Sebastian Chavez each had hits for the Troopers. In Game 2, Midland High clinched the series and earned trip to the area round with 5-1 win.Coronado saw its season with two losses to Frenship, 13-2 and 4-2.Class 5A, Division 1In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Americas defeated El Paso High, 14-2. Cisco Carrasco was the winning pitcher for the Trailblazers. The Trailblazers closed out the series with a 12-0 win in five innings. Anericas has won nine bidistrict titles since 2012, including six straight.In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Bel Air defeated Chapin, 13-12. Bel Air is making its first appearance in the playoffs since 2019. Bel Air scored four in the sixth inning to go up 13-10. Chapin scored twice in the bottom of the seventh and had the game winning run on second base in the final inning before Bel Air got the final out. Chapin evened the series at 1-1 with a 4-3 victory in Game 2. Beckett Babb, Julian Flores, Nathan Sanchez and Aydenn Aguilar each had two hits for the Huskies. Izayah Carrasco was the winning pitcher and went 6.1 innings. Bryan Cordero earned the save and struckout the final batter of the game with the bases loaded. The third and deciding game will be played Saturday, May 2.Class 5A, Division 2In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Horizon defeated Canutillo, 8-1, Franklin Miller was the winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts. Abraham Barraza led the offense with three hits, Jeremiah Paz had two hits and George Alba hit a homer and drove in three runs to lead the Scorpions. Horizon clinched the bidistrict title with a 10-3 won. Jeremiah Paz was the winning pitcher, striking out four. Paz also drove in two runs, George Alba had two hits and Gilberto Soto drove in two runs.In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Burges defeated Del Valle, 9-6. Victor Aguirre drove in three runs to lead Burges, while 3 RBI, Evan Ortiz and Andrew Vasquez each drove in two runs. Burges clinched the bidistrict title with a 6-5 win, scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth and it advances to area. Emilio Duarte had the game winning hit, scoring Jacob Gomez. Burges won its first bistrict title since 2015.Class 4A, Division 1In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Riverside defeated San Elizario, 8-1. Jose Padilla was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts. Gavin Recoder, José Fuentes, Sevastian Romero and Triston Puga all had two hits for the Rangers. Riverside closed out the series with 10-1 win Game 2. Carlos Rojas pitched five innings and was the winning pitcher. Rojas added three hits and Eli Cortez had two hits and drove in two runs.In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Ysleta defeated Mountain View, 12-0. Mountain View evened the series at 1-1 with a 1-0 win and forced a third and deciding game on Saturday, May 2. Alan Gonzalez was the winning pitcher and struckout seven. Esteban Garcia led the Lobos offense with two hits.Class 4A, Division 2In Game 1 of the best two-of-three series, Clint defeated Bowie, 4-1. Kevin Pacheco was winning pitcher with 13 strikeouts. Pacheco added two hits and Oscar Maldonado had tw hits and scored two runs. Clint clinched the series with a 15-0 win in Game 2 and advances to area. Mario Aguirre was the winning pitcher and struckout seven. Pacheco had three hits and four RBI and Miguelangel Rivas had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense.
