Center fielder Evan Carter is leading off for the Rangers on Saturday.
“He felt it a little bit in [his final] at-bat,” Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said after Friday’s 5-4 win. “I saw him shaking his leg. I ran out there, asked what the deal was, he said ‘I could play,” shocker, like I thought he would, but I didn’t really feel like it was worth it with the weather how it was. I didn’t really want to push him.”
The 33-year-old started each of the team’s first 33 games this season and slashed .302/.378/.468 atop the lineup. He went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and a walk in Friday’s win before he was replaced by pinch runner Josh Smith after his second single.
