AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas softball avoided getting swept at home against Arkansas with a 4-1 win Saturday to end the Southeastern Conference regular season.

Teagan Kavan threw a gem for the No. 5 Longhorns, striking out 10 with one walk in a complete game. She allowed one run on four hits, throwing 116 pitches with 71 for strikes, for her 20th win of the season.
SEC softball: No. 7 Arkansas 2, No. 5 Texas 1
Hannah Wells put the Longhorns on the board in the second inning with a 2-run home run over the left field wall, and Leighann Goode smacked an RBI single in the fifth. Texas scored another run in the frame on an Arkansas fielding error.
Texas outhit the Razorbacks 8-4. Kayden Henry and Goode had two hits each.
The Longhorns couldn’t get their offense going the entire series, losing the opener 2-0 on Thursday and the second game Friday 4-3. Texas led 3-0 in the second game until the Razorbacks plated four runs in the top of the fifth, aided by two defensive errors.
Wells hit a solo home run in the fourth inning, and Reese Atwood drove in a run with a single in the third. Jaycie Nichols opened Texas’ scoring with an RBI single in the second.
The Longhorns (39-10, 16-8 SEC) will open SEC tournament play in the second round Wednesday at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.
