Greenwood’s Dylan Payton won the boys 300-meter hurdles for the third straight year at the Region I-4A Track and Field Championships, May 2, 2026, in Lubbock.

Greenwood senior Dylan Payton automatically qualified for state in three events on Saturday.
Payton picked up a gold, two silvers and a bronze during the Region I-4A Track and Field Championships at Lowrey Field in Lubbock.

Payton won the boys 300-meter hurdles (37.87 seconds) for the third straight year at regionals and placed second with a mark of 22 feet, 7 inches, in the long jump.
Payton, Aaron Carrillo, Kasen Brooks and Andrick Rodriguez also raced the Rangers 1,600 relay to a second-place showing (3:19.65).
Payton and his relay mates punched their ticket to the UIL Class 4A Track and Field State Meet, May 14 in Austin. Payton will be competing at state for the third time.
The Greenwood girls 800 relay of Ava McIntyre, Addyson Adame, Sidnee Click and Kealani Weeks qualified for state as well by placing second (1:41.87) behind first-place Brownwood (1:40.79).

Greenwood also got third-place finishes from freshman Andree Baer in the girls high jump (5-5), its boys 800 relay team of Payton, Hyden McNutt, Kayden Alford and Mason Lee (1:27.02) and Weeks in the girls 200-meter dash (24.58).
The Rangers placed third (54) behind meet champion Canyon (106) and second-place Lubbock-Cooper Liberty (81) in the boys team standings.
Andrews had three automatic qualifiers for state, highlighted by its boys 400 relay of Beau Hudson, Tommy Evans, Jaesean DeBouse and Raider Harvey, which won with a time of 41.48.
Andrews freshman Kelby Glass placed second (40-1.75) in the girls shot put behind Stephenville’s Brinley Hall (40-10.50), and Andrews sophomore Brennan Hall finished second (57.84) in the girls 400 meters.

Big Spring senior Jacob Marquez advanced to state with his second-place finish in the boys 800 (1:58.50).
Other area third-place finishes came from Andrews’ Rylan Newbrough in the girls 100 (12.32) and Big Spring’s Eithan Threats in the boys 110-meter hurdles (14.51).

LEVELLAND – Grady freshman Emerie White automatically qualified for the state track meet in three events during the Region I-1A meet, Friday and Saturday at South Plains College.
White won the girls long jump (17-9), took first in the triple jump (35-10) and came in second in the 200 meters (26.97).
White also placed third (1:01:48) in the 400 meters.
Grady junior Macie Stack will join White at state as she finished second (8-3) in the girls pole vault.

The Lady Wildcats’ 1,600 relay of Stack, Raylee O’Donnell, Alyssa Oviedo and White finished third (4:21.89).
ABILENE – Coahoma senior Bree Lewis earned a state meet berth by placing second (40-3.50) in the girls shot put during the Region I-3A meet, Saturday at Elmer Gray Stadium.

The West Texas A&M signee will make her second trip to the state meet on May 14 after she placed second in the shot put during the 2024 UIL Class 3A state championships.
Coahoma sophomore Kohen Grantom won the shot put wheelchair (27-3), the 100-meter wheelchair (15.13) and the 400 wheelchair (50.70) to qualify for state in three events.

ABILENE – Garden City had several second-place finishers and state qualifiers during the Region II-1A meet over the weekend at Elmer Gray Stadium.
Sophomore Addison Goodwin placed second (9-6) in the girls pole vault, sophomore Natalie Crownover finished second in the girls 100 (12.77), sophomore Miles Colunga came in second in two events with the boys 100 (11.06) and the 200 (22.70), and the girls 400 relay of Crownover, Emily Easterling, Claire Eggemeyer and Sydney Tomlinson finished second (50.41).

CANYON – Forsan earned two bronzes at the Region II-1A meet over the weekend at West Texas A&M University.
Forsan sophomore Kyndall Pritchard finished third (5-0) in the high jump and the Buffaloes’ boys 800 relay of Ashton Ellis, Coy Evans, Brady Janssen and Kameron Jordan placed third (1:29.38).
