LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock voters have given Mark McBrayer another term as mayor. He drew 72.5 percent of the early vote.
Unofficial final results show he received 70.3 percent of the vote. Stephen Sanders garnered 19.2 percent, Peggy Bohmfalk 7.8 percent and G. Todd Winans 2.6 percent.

McBrayer drew roughly the same share of the vote as in his run-off victory to secure a first term, in 2024.
He said it “gives me a lot of confidence that the public still believes what I’m trying to do and how I’m trying to move the city forward and are with me on that.”
McBrayer said his top priority remains safety. He intends to increase the number of police officers on the force, to continue to lower crime rates.
“We had good results this last year,” McBrayer said, reflecting on the latest crime statistics.
“We want people to feel safe to walk to the park, for their kids to play outside. We want that to be something…that people feel very confident in this city,” McBrayer said, emphasizing it must be done in as affordable a way as possible.
McBrayer said work downtown, on Broadway and at Lake Seven are all important for the growing city.
Final unofficial results show 9,533 votes were cast in this race. The 2024 run-off between McBrayer and Steve Massengale drew 16,441 votes. 24,076 votes were cast in the May 2024 election that rejected the decriminalization of marijuana.
