LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Nazareth Swifts are this week’s Extra Innings Team of the Week after defeating Borden County 12-0 to clinch the Bi-District Championship.
The Swifts jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back, putting up five runs in the first inning, three in the second, and four in the third and were exceptional at the plate bringing runners in as well as stealing bases.
On Thursday, Nazareth took on Borden County, which saw senior pitcher Breck Procter striking out 10 batters only allowing two hits, and no runs through five innings while the defense held on to not commit a single error.
At the plate, the Swifts drove in five runs, including a Fletcher Schacher double that scored Zane Schulte which helped give them an early comfortable lead before the 12-0 shutout victory over Borden County. Schacher and Neill both had two hits and Proctor and Lincoln Pohlmeier led the team with two walks each with the team stealing a total of 12 bases in the game.
Up next, the Nazareth Swifts get ready for the Regional Quarterfinals on Saturday in Floydada where they will take on Claude in a single game playoff.
