For more than 70 years, Dallas has celebrated Cinco de Mayo. It started with a fiesta at Pike Park, located in what used to be the thriving community of Little Mexico. Now, restaurants and businesses across North Texas host events, meal deals and more.
Since Cinco de Mayo is not considered a U.S. federal holiday, not many day-to-day businesses will change operating hours.
Grocery stores will maintain regular operating hours. This includes Kroger, H-E-B, Tom Thumb, Walmart, Whole Foods, Central Market, Trader Joe’s and Sprouts. Typically, shoppers will find displays featuring all the necessary makings for Mexican-themed or inspired foods and drinks — agua fresca, tacos, margaritas, tamales, elotes and more.
The U.S. Postal Service and other packaging and shipping companies will also operate normally.
Banks and other state and federal offices will hold regular business hours. These can be found by searching the specific office on your preferred search engine.
