DART to address member city withdrawal votes at 11 a.m. – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Both Addison and University Park will remain in the DART transit system, while voters in Highland Park decided to withdraw.

The results come after months of discussion in both local and state governments about ongoing participation and whether member cities are getting enough value from a dedicated one-cent sales and use tax.

University Park, Highland Park, and Addison have each been member cities since the agency’s creation in 1983.

State law allows DART member cities to hold a withdrawal election every six years.

In a statement, DART clarified what happens next for riders once city councils accept the election results.

DART said services in Addison and University Park will remain unchanged. Highland Park will canvass the election results at an upcoming meeting on May 13. Service in Highland Park will end on May 14.
