LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Several road closures and construction projects are planned across Lubbock this week.
South Loop 289 guardrail repair
Drivers on South Loop 289 on Tuesday may encounter closures. TxDOT will repair the guardrail along the eastbound lanes between 50th Street and Quaker Avenue. Work will start after the morning rush.
Closures in the main lanes, as well as on-ramps and exit ramps, are expected in the area. The work is expected to be completed by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
New traffic signals at 146th and Indiana
The city of Lubbock will activate newly constructed traffic signals Tuesday at the intersection of 146th Street and Indiana Avenue. The city asks drivers to be extra cautious while motorists become used to the new traffic pattern.
Zenith and 8th Street intersection closure
Crews will start sewer main and manhole work Wednesday at the intersection of Zenith Avenue and 8th Street. The intersection will be closed to traffic. Work is set to be completed by May 26, weather permitting.
Drivers are asked to find alternate routes. Drivers in the area are asked to eliminate distractions and plan for extra travel time.
