AUSTIN, Texas — Austin’s longest-running film festival is back, focusing on what matters most: powerful stories and community connection.
The All Genders, Lifestyles, and Identities Film Festival (aGLIFF) returns this weekend with its annual PRISM 38 LGBTQ+ Film Festival, running October 16–19 at Galaxy Theaters in Austin.
“It’s been a difficult season for the organization,” said aGLIFF Board President and Executive Director Todd Hogan.
With shifting schedules, uncertain funding, and limited bandwidth, this year’s festival will look very different from what you’ve come to expect. Still, the board and I agreed that we had to find a way to bring the community together because now, more than ever, queer stories matter.

This year’s event will be a “no-frills” festival, centered on films and conversation instead of parties and swag.
Hogan says the goal is to return to the festival’s roots: celebrating LGBTQ+ filmmakers and the community that supports them.
The lineup includes documentaries and features from around the world, all highlighting the diversity and creativity of queer storytelling.
Opening night features a special 25th-anniversary screening of Sordid Lives, with creator Del Shores in attendance for a limited meet-and-greet and photo opportunity before the film.

Badges have been issued to members, and single tickets and weekend passes are now available to the public.
Despite the scaled-down format, organizers say PRISM 38 is a reminder that even in challenging times, queer stories continue to thrive.
PRISM 38 runs October 16–19, 2025, at Galaxy Theaters Austin.
