North Texas, a new H-E-B is about to make its debut — and the location couldn’t make more sense.
The latest store is set to open later this month in the North Texas region of Hurst, Euless and Bedford — known to locals as none other than HEB. The H-E-B in HEB (which the chain calls its Mid-Cities store to avoid predictable confusion) will feature a drive-thru pharmacy, a True Texas BBQ eatery, curbside and delivery, and a gas station and car wash. Shoppers can find it at the corner of Cheek-Sparger Road and Rio Grande Boulevard in Euless. At 126,226 square feet, a 2024 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration shows the building had a price tag of more than $34 million.
A groundbreaking kicked off construction back in 2024, and anticipation has been growing ever since. The store will officially open its doors on Wednesday, May 20, a spokesperson for the grocer told MySA via email. As with other store openings, shoppers should expect long lines to form in the early hours of the morning. In the past, attendees have scored some freebies while in line, such as coffee grounds, lime mineral water and chocolate bars, as well as gift cards and H-E-B scarves. When a new store opened on San Antonio’s Westside back in January, dozens of locals turned out for the 6 a.m. debut, causing the line to snake into the parking lot. One excited shopper even showed up at 7:30 p.m. the evening prior.
The store will open at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, according to the spokesperson. “Grand opening events will feature company executives along with city officials, community leaders, and area nonprofits to celebrate the occasion,” a press release reads.
